At Matheson Chiropractic & Wellness Centre, we are passionate about helping patients of every age regain their health & experience their best life so far through our various techniques and services. We take ample time to educate our patients about our offerings (below) so they can make informed choices, ones that we always honor.
Chiropractic care
Diversified — This type of adjustment uses a gentle, yet specific, manual thrust that is administered by hand. The direction, speed, depth and angle that are used is the result of some 40 years of experience, practice and a thorough understanding of spinal mechanics. The thrust used may produce a slight “popping” sound from the shifting of gas and fluids in the joint. We use sophisticated and specialized Zenith tables with the Diversified technique.
Impulse® —As an alternative to manual (hand) adjusting, Dr. Matheson also uses this handheld adjusting instrument, which has 3 distinct force settings. This adjusting tool is ideal to use on those who dislike the popping sound associated with a manual adjustment.
Our patients often talk about how their adjusting room experience was easier than they thought, with very little discomfort and quicker than they thought, with little wait time.
Custom made orthotics
Superior to prefabricated orthotics, these devices provide terrific support for your feet. We use the TOG GaitScan™. This valuable educational tool provides practitioners with a comprehensive, biomechanical analysis for each patient as well as clear, concise images to assess and articulate the need for orthotic therapy. A perfect fit is achieved, and the devices are usually back in our office within 10 working days. These are posture correcting orthotics, designed to meet your individual postural needs.
Electrotherapy
Ultrasound is a high tech, deep tissue “micro-massage” that helps reduce swelling, increase blood flow, decrease pain, reduce joint stiffness and stimulate cell repair. We also use Interferential Current therapy (IFC), a noninvasive means of relieving pain and speeding the healing process through painless, electrical stimulation.
Exercise routines
We want to help you not only feel better but move better. That’s why we offer a variety of exercise routines including rehabilitation, core stability, range of motion, strength and more. Dr. Matheson or his staff will demonstrate whatever exercises he feels are necessary to get you the results you’re after.
Massage therapy
Working hand in hand with chiropractic, therapeutic massage can relax/ improve muscle tone (before or after Dr. Matheson’s treatment) and ultimately speed up the healing process by stimulating blood supply. Two in-house massage therapists are available.
Nutritional and lifestyle counseling
A core component of healthy living, eating nutritious foods can make all the difference in the world, between sickness & wellness. We’ll provide guidance about foods to eat and those to avoid, as well as extensive information about weight loss/ control through intermittent fasting. We’ll address issues such as: best sleep position, the health risks of extended sitting, ‘text’ neck, proper lifting techniques, proper posture, the use of supplements & many others.
